LEGO Bluey mobile game launches through StoryToys collaboration.
Dublin-based digital publisher StoryToys has released a new mobile game based on the popular children’s TV series Bluey, developed in partnership with the LEGO Group and BBC Studios.
The LEGO Bluey app is now available on the App Store and Google Play.
“We’re genuinely thrilled to be working with Bluey for the first time. It’s such a special show, full of warmth, humour, and imagination that really connects with families and encourages them to play together”
The game is designed for children aged two to seven and features characters, builds, and props from the LEGO Bluey range. It includes four themed play packs at launch: Garden Tea Party, Go for a Drive, Beach Day, and Around the House.
Each pack offers open-ended activities that encourage creativity and problem-solving. Future updates will introduce new content to keep the experience fresh for young players.
The app incorporates both classic LEGO System bricks for ages four and up and larger LEGO DUPLO bricks for younger children. It blends imaginative brick-building with digital play, supporting emotional and cognitive development.
Ahead of its release, the app received over 750,000 pre-orders.
Dublin draws the destiny of digital entertainment
“We’re genuinely thrilled to be working with Bluey for the first time,” said Emmet O’Neill, chief executive of StoryToys. “It’s such a special show, full of warmth, humour, and imagination that really connects with families and encourages them to play together. That spirit is at the heart of what we do at StoryToys. We’re also really excited to be introducing LEGO system bricks into our apps for the first time, giving kids even more ways to build, create, and play.”
StoryToys is a Dublin-based digital publisher that creates award-winning educational and entertainment apps for children.
Founded in 2008 by brothers Aidan and Kevin Doolan under the original name Ideal Binary, the company blends storytelling, learning, and gameplay into interactive experiences that simulate traditional pop-up books. Popular titles include Grimm’s Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, and Farm 123, available across iOS and Android platforms.
The company has raised funding across three seed rounds, with backing from investors such as Enterprise Ireland, Enterprise Equity, AIB Seed Capital Fund, and co.lab. Its final funding round closed in June 2015. In July 2021, StoryToys was acquired by UK-based Team17 Software in a deal valued at €22.4m.
Despite its acquisition, StoryToys has maintained its creative independence and continues to release new content. It recently partnered with major brands such as Mattel and Halfbrick to bring franchises like Masters of the Universe and Jetpack Joyride to Apple Arcade
“We’re over the moon to bring the magic of Bluey and LEGO DUPLO and LEGO system bricks together in a way that sparks creativity and imagination for our little builders in a digital world created by StoryToys,” explained Michaela Edgerly Stovicek, head of LEGO Preschool Audience.
“With the LEGO Bluey app, every child can dive into a world of playful adventures, where learning and fun go hand in hand and magic happens at the click of fingertips. Build mode on.”
The LEGO Bluey app builds on StoryToys’ successful LEGO DUPLO apps and continues the company’s mission to create engaging digital experiences that support children’s development through play.
Bluey, produced by Ludo Studio, first aired in Australia in 2018 and now reaches audiences in over 140 countries. According to Nielsen, it was the most-watched streaming series in the United States in 2024, with nearly 56 billion minutes viewed, and remains a top performer in 2025.
Marina Mello, BBC Studios global director for Gaming & Interactive, added, “We’re delighted to bring together two of the world’s most beloved brands and to offer fans a whole new way to enjoy them. This game blends imaginative brick-building with playful problem-solving and memorable moments from the show, capturing the distinctive spirit of creativity and fun that defines both brands.”
