Psychology-led edtech business Education Elephant supports 1,500 schools worldwide and is forecasting more than 50% growth in 2026 following the launch of its proprietary screening platform SWIFT.
Education Elephant, the education technology company founded by chartered psychologist Rebecca James and Educational Psychologist Dr Kate James, is on course to surpass €1m in annual turnover this year as schools increasingly seek digital tools to identify and support students with diverse learning needs.
Established in 2018, the business reported turnover of more than €700,000 in its last financial year and is forecasting growth of more than 50% by the end of 2026. What began as a specialist training provider has evolved into a rapidly expanding edtech company serving schools across Ireland, the UK, the Middle East and Asia.
The company’s growth comes as educators face increasing pressure to support larger and more diverse classrooms, creating demand for evidence-based assessment tools and training programmes that can help identify learning needs earlier.
Detecting learning needs quickly
At the centre of Education Elephant’s expansion plans is SWIFT, the company’s first proprietary digital screening platform. Developed using the founders’ educational psychology expertise, the tool is designed to help schools detect learning needs quickly and provide evidence-based insights to support intervention and decision-making.
The launch of SWIFT marks a significant milestone for the company as it moves beyond its role as a provider of assessment services and training programmes into technology development. The platform is already helping drive demand across existing and new markets, including Ireland, the UK, the Middle East, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Rebecca James founded Education Elephant after identifying a gap between the growing needs of schools and the resources available to support them. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience across educational and clinical settings, she set out to make specialist educational psychology tools and training more accessible for schools.
Today, the company supports more than 1,500 schools and has trained around 1,000 professionals through its Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (CCET) and ETAAC qualifications. Its portfolio includes professional development programmes covering ADHD, autism, dyslexia, literacy, speech and language development, and mental health.
“When we founded Education Elephant, the goal was simple: to make specialist educational psychology more accessible for schools and to give teachers practical tools they could use every day to better support their students,” founder and director Rebecca James said. “Over the past few years, we’ve seen first-hand how much demand there is for this type of support. Education Elephant said its continuing investment in research, technology and professional training has enabled it to expand its offering while remaining focused on practical outcomes for schools. The business now supports educators through the assessment, identification and intervention process, combining digital tools with specialist psychology expertise.
Looking ahead, the company plans to accelerate its international growth strategy while continuing to invest in new screening technologies and professional development programmes.
