Reopening of Sligo City Hotel will generate 40 new jobs

The Sligo City Hotel will reopen on 1 March 2023 as part of the Address Collective Hotel Group.

Up to 40 new jobs are to be created through the reopening of the Sligo City Hotel.

The hotel will reopen as part of the Address Collective Hotel Group, which is owned by Irish Hoteliers Brian and Ciara McGettigan. The expansion will create 40 new jobs initially, with more added over time.

“We have plans to create a bespoke product that will enhance Sligo’s hotel offering”

The hotel is very centrally located on Quay Street next to Sligo City Hall, with 61 bedrooms, bar, restaurant, and meeting rooms. The property benefits from its very central location and the strong leisure and corporate demand in Sligo, the largest town in the north west of Ireland and a growing tourist destination on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Rebranding and refurbishment

The reopened Sligo City Hotel will be refurbished and will rebrand as The Address Hotel Sligo in 2024 and will boast 61 bedrooms. It joins a footprint of existing Address properties including The Address Hotel Connelly (278 bedrooms), The Address Hotel Citywest (129 bedrooms) and The Address Hotel Cork City (70 bedrooms).

Also coming in 2023 and rebranding in 2024 will be The Address Hotel Glasgow which will have 91 bedrooms.

“This commitment and significant capital investment in Sligo demonstrates our appetite to grow the Address Collective Brand,” stated Brian and Ciara McGettigan.

“We have plans to create a bespoke product that will enhance Sligo’s hotel offering. The location lends itself to a truly boutique hotel and we look forward to the launch of The Address Hotel Sligo in 2024.”

The Savills Hotel team advised Brian and Ciara McGettigan and the Address Collective Hotel Group.

“Savills were delighted to advise the Address Collective on this addition to its expanding portfolio. Sligo is a growing destination, and this boutique brand will help grow the overall Sligo hotel market,” said Tom Barrett, Savills Hotels.
