Regulatory shift opens new market for private wireless networks as technology provider prepares nationwide rollout.
Logicalis has announced an €8 million investment to support the launch of Ireland’s first enterprise-focused Private 5G service.
This positioning the company to design, deploy and manage private wireless networks for organisations across the country at scale.

The investment covers technology infrastructure, research and development, and specialist expertise required to accelerate the rollout of Private 5G capabilities in Ireland.
The launch follows a significant regulatory change by communications regulator ComReg, which will allow organisations outside the traditional telecommunications sector to access dedicated Private 5G spectrum for the first time. The move is expected to create an entirely new market for enterprise connectivity services in Ireland.
Greater control over digital infrastructure
Logicalis said its offering will extend beyond network connectivity to provide a fully managed end-to-end service, developed in partnership with technology vendors including Cisco, Nokia and Neutral Wireless. The service will include network design, radio planning, deployment, security, integration and ongoing managed support.
The company is bringing experience from Private 5G projects already delivered in the UK, Europe and North America to support Irish organisations seeking greater control over their digital infrastructure.
Private 5G networks provide organisations with dedicated wireless connectivity, offering secure, low-latency performance across large operational environments. The technology is expected to support increased adoption of robotics, industrial artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, Internet of Things devices, edge computing and real-time analytics.
Sectors expected to benefit include manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, logistics, ports, utilities and higher education.
Frank Rubotham, Head of Specialists and Propositions at Logicalis UK&I said the availability of Private 5G spectrum to industry represents a major development for Ireland’s digital economy and could strengthen the country’s attractiveness for foreign direct investment by enabling advanced connected technologies within enterprise environments.
“Historically, enterprises wishing to deploy private 5G have had to rely on mobile operators as the spectrum was unavailable directly to industry,” Rubotham said. “This framework created complexity and cost barriers to accessing this technology. Now, with industry access to private 5G spectrum, the technology has moved from pilot phase to production deployment at scale.”
Rubotham said Logicalis has invested in the technology over the past decade while building experience across international markets.
