Swedish furniture giant IKEA’s new Plan and Order point will create 13 new jobs and bring design services, Click & Collect and more to the West of Ireland.
IKEA plans to open its first Plan and Order Point in Galway on 27 August, marking a milestone in the retailer’s expansion across Ireland.
Located at Gateway Retail Park on Headford Road, the new outlet will be IKEA’s eight Plan and Order Point and its 10th overall store in Ireland.

Opening its doors at 10am, the Galway location will also become IKEA’s largest store outside Dublin and the first in the West of Ireland to offer the Plan and Order Point experience.
Spanning 788 square metres across two levels, the store has been designed to help customers plan larger home furnishing projects while also offering a selection of products for immediate purchase.
Click and collect
Customers will soon be able to browse and take home 250 home furnishing accessories and 25 of IKEA’s bestselling furniture lines. The location will also feature 30 fully displayed home furnishing solutions, including 12 kitchen displays, 10 PAX and PLATSA wardrobe setups, three living room displays and two complete roomsets.
The Galway store will also operate as a major Click & Collect hub, offering up to 100 local collection slots per day. Customers will be able to order from IKEA’s full range online and collect their purchases locally free of charge. The location will also provide a local returns service.
The opening will create 13 new jobs, with all employees recruited from the Galway area. Customers will have access to in-store design specialists who can provide guidance on projects ranging from kitchens to storage solutions, as well as advice on delivery and installation.
