Deborah Jordan, a Wexford-based entrepreneur and cancer survivor, has launched Chuzeday, a business management app designed specifically for solo service providers across Ireland.
Jordan, who previously operated two successful salons in Waterford City, developed the app after identifying key challenges faced by small service business owners during her recovery from illness.
“In my previous business I remembered how much time was wasted in certain aspects of that business. I wanted to build something that would help small service business owners gain a meaningful life work balance,” Jordan said.
“Most solopreneurs are passionate, driven and highly adaptable. They also usually run businesses that are appointment-based. However, a lot of solopreneurs are not necessarily business savvy”
Her research revealed that solo entrepreneurs commonly face issues including time constraints, financial losses from no-shows, limited visibility, and isolation. Jordan believes loneliness among business owners is an underaddressed challenge.
Powering the solopreneur community
“There are systems out there that help, but the majority of those software systems are extremely expensive and technically complicated for small service businesses,” she explained.
The Chuzeday app incorporates AI technology to provide appointment-based businesses with essential tools including personalized landing pages, online booking systems, integrated payment solutions through Stripe and Revolut, and mobile accessibility.
“Most solopreneurs are passionate, driven and highly adaptable. They also usually run businesses that are appointment-based. However, a lot of solopreneurs are not necessarily business savvy. There’s so much advice out there and not all of it relevant to the one person band,” Jordan noted.
The app aims to help users reclaim 8-10 hours per week currently spent on booking management, allowing them to focus on profitability or personal time.
Key features include secure online payments, deposit protection tools, consultation video call facilities, and a free guest app for clients to book appointments independently.
Alongside the app launch, Jordan is establishing the Chuzeday Solopreneur Community, which will be open to non-clients and offer members promotional opportunities, interviews, and networking through Jordan’s business connections.
The initiative launches nationwide as Jordan continues her mission to support isolated business owners in achieving better work-life balance.
