Businesses, community groups and sustainability champions urged to submit entries before 31 August deadline.
Repak has issued a final call for entries to the 2026 Repak Resource Awards, encouraging businesses, community organisations and individuals across Ireland to showcase sustainability initiatives that are helping to reduce waste, improve resource efficiency and advance the circular economy.
The annual awards programme recognises environmental leadership across a wide range of sectors, celebrating projects that deliver measurable impact through waste prevention, recycling, reuse, refill and other resource management initiatives.
“Ireland is making great strides towards a circular economy and that progress is down to the efforts of people across the length and breadth of the country to drive positive environmental change”
With the entry deadline of Monday, 31 August 2026 approaching, Repak is urging organisations of all sizes to put forward projects that demonstrate practical environmental action and innovation.
The awards are free to enter and offer participants an opportunity to gain national recognition, celebrate the teams and individuals behind sustainability projects and share examples of environmental best practice with a wider audience.
Targeted sustainability initiatives
According to Repak, previous winners have highlighted how targeted sustainability initiatives can deliver benefits for businesses, local communities and the environment.
Winning projects have ranged from waste prevention schemes and recycling improvements to programmes tackling single-use plastics, batteries and waste electrical and electronic equipment.
Zoe Kavanagh, CEO of Repak, said the awards reflect the progress being made across Ireland as organisations and communities embrace more sustainable practices.
“Ireland is making great strides towards a circular economy and that progress is down to the efforts of people across the length and breadth of the country to drive positive environmental change. It’s only right that we celebrate the efforts of these organisations, community groups and individuals, which led us to creating the Repak Resource Awards.
“The level of innovation and passion for sustainability evident in the submissions is testament to how momentum is gathering on our journey to achieving our national climate action goals. With the closing date approaching, we want to make sure that people do not miss out on the opportunity to have their efforts recognised similar to some of last year’s winners like Re-Box in Dublin and Castletroy College from Limerick.”
This year’s awards span a broad range of sustainability categories, reflecting the growing diversity of environmental initiatives taking place across Ireland.
The 2026 categories include Battery and WEEE Champion; Environmental Education Initiative; Innovation in Reuse and Refill (Product or Service); Community Sustainability Initiative; Waste Prevention/Reduction Initiative; Best Waste Recovery Operator and Facility Award; Best Recovery Operator Innovation; Innovation in Sustainable Packaging Design; Innovation in SUP Reduction/Removal; Best Deposit Return Initiative; Tyre Champion; Sustainability Team of the Year; and Business Recycling Champion.
Entries are expected to outline the environmental challenge being addressed, the actions taken and the measurable outcomes achieved.
Repak said the awards continue to provide a platform for organisations and individuals to demonstrate how sustainable practices can create positive environmental change while supporting Ireland’s transition to a more circular economy.
The closing date for entries is Monday, 31 August 2026. Further information and entry details are available here.
