Pret a Manger opens in Dublin with more Irish stores to follow

Dawson Street store to be first in nationwide roll-out for coffee and sandwich franchise Pret A Manger.

Pret a Manger is to open its first Irish outlet on Friday (26 August), paving the way for more Irish stores.

The new shop will create 25 new jobs and is the first of 20 Pret shops set to open across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland over the next decade, creating approximately 500 jobs.

“The team are working hard on the final touches at the shop to ensure we are ready to welcome our first customers across our opening weekend”

The new shop will work with a number of local Irish suppliers including Lynas Foodservice; Ready Chef; Glenisk and fresh yogurt from Clandeboye Estate.

The Irish shop is expected to welcome 10,000 customers across its opening week, serving them a range of items from flakey, just out of the oven croissants, delicious and filling baguettes, coffees and seasonal salads.

At the end of each day, the new shop’s freshly made surplus food will be donated through The Pret Foundation to Depaul Dublin, helping to support the charity’s vision to alleviate homelessness and changing the lives of those affected by it.

“The team are working hard on the final touches at the shop to ensure we are ready to welcome our first customers across our opening weekend,” said Mikey Mulqueen, Dublin operations manager.

“Following months of planning and preparation, I speak for the entire team when I say we are excited to open our doors and to provide our customers with the signature friendly Pret experience with great tasting food and coffee.”

The Dawson Street opening is part of a Pret agreement with Carebrook Partnership Ltd., one of its longest serving franchise partners, which has overseen the success of many shops in London including Camden, Belsize Park and Finchley.

Carebrook co-owners Gerard Loughran and Ray McNamara have in-depth knowledge of the Irish food industry, alongside 30 years of experience working with Pret.

“Today marks a special brand milestone as the Irish team complete the finishing touches to our first Republic of Ireland shop,” Guy Meakin, Interim UK and Ireland Managing Director at Pret A Manger added.

“Together with our franchise partners and local store team we are very much looking forward to the shops official opening this Friday.”
