New Penneys Tallaght store to generate 300 jobs

New €10m store in Tallaght is the first new Penneys store in Dublin in six years.

Penneys today (15 September 2022) opens its 37th retail store in the Republic of Ireland which will result in the creation of 300 new jobs.

This is the first new Penneys store in Dublin in six years, following its opening in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre in December 2016. Located on the ground floor of The Square, it is one of the largest fashion stores at the shopping centre with 43,500 square feet of retail space and a Nails beauty salon.

This is a significant week for the Irish retailer as it continues its international expansion; Primark opened its second store in the Czech Republic yesterday in the city of Brno, and tomorrow it will open its 56th store in Spain, in San Sebastian. This will bring the total number of Primark stores to 408 globally.

Customers to Penneys Tallaght will find the latest affordable Autumn Winter fashion trends, as well as its famous great value everyday essentials across women’s, men’s, kids’, and homeware, as well as beauty and accessories.

Many of the clothes and products available are part of its growing Primark Cares label, all part of its commitment to make more sustainable fashion affordable for everyone. 39% of Penneys’ clothing is already made from recycled or more sustainably sourced materials, and the fashion retailer has committed to make that 100% of its clothing by 2030.

The new store also stocks its hugely popular licensed ranges including Disney, Winnie the Pooh, the iconic NBA and NFL brands, and a dedicated denim trend area. The in-store beauty salon, operated by Nails™, offers a wide range of manicure, pedicure, brows, lashes and threading services, all part of Penneys aim to offer great experiences in-store.

Penneys also recently announced a commitment to protect prices on more than 1,000 of its essential children’s products as it seeks to help family finances go further amid the rising cost of living. Shoppers at the new Tallaght store can be confident that this autumn, prices will be held across many of its most popular kids’ lines, from underwear to t-shirts, to dresses and jeans.
