SMEs will receive a bespoke expert programme led by IRDG Innovation Skillnet to sharpen and accelerate innovation and drive business growth.
IRDG Innovation Skillnet has launched a new Strategic Innovation and Entrepreneurship programme aimed at helping Irish SMEs accelerate innovation and drive business growth.
The programme is part of Skillnet Ireland’s Pathway to Innovate initiative, which supports regional SMEs in developing structured approaches to innovation.
“In today’s challenging economic environment, Irish SMEs need practical, results-oriented solutions to stay competitive”
It will bring together 12 selected companies, each represented by two senior leaders, for a hybrid learning experience combining in-person workshops and online masterclasses.
Competitive edge
The in-person sessions will be held at the Engine Hub in Limerick, while the online components will include modules on Innovation Foundations, Design Thinking, Business Model Innovation, AI Transformation for SMEs, and Leadership and Culture.
Each participating company will receive a tailored Innovation Diagnostic Report and Roadmap, mentoring support, and a 90-day execution plan linked to live business projects.
Dermot Casey, CEO of the Industry Research and Development Group, said the programme responds to the practical needs of SMEs.
“In today’s challenging economic environment, Irish SMEs need practical, results-oriented solutions to stay competitive,” Casey explained.
“Through our collaboration with Skillnet Ireland, this pioneering programme provides business leaders with a clear strategic roadmap, peer-to-peer learning opportunities, and hands-on guidance to convert innovation into real growth for Irish enterprises,” he said.
The programme will run from October to December 2025 and is fully funded for the selected companies. It includes a two-day diagnostic workshop in early October, followed by online masterclasses, two additional in-person days mid-programme, and a final showcase event in December.
Eoin McDonnell, Head of Strategic Programmes at Skillnet Ireland, said the initiative is designed to build leadership capability and foster innovation.
“Skillnet Ireland’s Pathway to Innovate accelerates innovation and entrepreneurial thinking through business-led skills programmes. IRDG Innovation Skillnet brings its proven expertise in innovation leadership to SMEs.
“The Strategic Innovation and Entrepreneurship programme equips business leaders with the tools, mindset, and peer network to drive real change,” McDonnell added.
