Agreement between IONITY and Pinergy will deploy 48 ultra-fast charging points across Ireland with renewable electricity sourced from Co Laois wind farm.
IONITY, one of Europe’s leading high-power electric vehicle charging networks, has appointed Pinergy as its energy service provider in Ireland under a new Corporate Power Purchase Agreement that will see renewable electricity supplied across its nationwide charging infrastructure.
The agreement covers IONITY’s entire Irish network of 48 ultra-fast charging points located across seven sites on the national road network. Through Pinergy’s Guarantee of Origin offering, the charging infrastructure will be supplied with approximately six million kilowatt hours of renewable electricity annually from a wind farm in Co Laois owned and operated by Lirion Power.

The partnership links one of Europe’s largest EV charging operators with an Irish energy transition company as demand for electric vehicle charging infrastructure continues to grow. IONITY currently operates more than 800 charging sites across 24 European countries, all powered by renewable energy.
Key EV charging locations
In Ireland, the company’s charging hubs are positioned along major motorways and offer charging speeds of up to 350kW, allowing most electric vehicles to recharge from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes. Its Irish portfolio includes the flagship Charlestown charging hub on the M50, the largest ultra-rapid EV charging site in the country.
IONITY said it intends to continue expanding its Irish network in the coming years.

“Working with Pinergy guarantees renewable power for Irish drivers through a local partner that they can trust. As we continue to expand access to ultra-fast charging in Ireland, our combined capabilities will give EV drivers an experience that encourages them to make lower-carbon choices every day.”
The volume of renewable electricity covered by the agreement amounts to 5.7GWh annually, equivalent to the average electricity consumption of approximately 1,400 Irish households.
For Pinergy, the deal strengthens a growing portfolio of Corporate Power Purchase Agreements designed to connect large energy users with Irish renewable generation projects.

The renewable electricity supporting the charging network will be generated by a wind farm in Co Laois operated by Lirion Power, which is also examining opportunities to combine wind generation with solar and battery storage technologies.
