Irish medical device company to create 72 jobs with €1.5m Government backing
ICS Medical Devices, a Galway-based catheter manufacturer, plans to create 72 new positions by 2028.
This follows the approval of €1.5m in Enterprise Ireland funding.
“This growth reflects the hard work of our team, the continued investment in new technologies, and the increasing demand for our services”
The expansion will span multiple departments including engineering, human resources, manufacturing, and quality control at the company, which has experienced rapid growth since its founding in 2019.
Scaling in the West
The funding package, delivered through various Enterprise Ireland supports, will directly finance investment in facilities, capabilities, personnel, and new technologies as the medtech company scales its operations.
Minister of State for Disability Hildegarde Naughton TD praised the announcement at today’s ceremony. “I would like to congratulate ICS Medical Devices on their continued growth and the creation of 72 new jobs. This expansion is a testament to their innovation and commitment to excellence.”
She added that she was pleased to see Enterprise Ireland supporting the company’s success through grant funding, “helping to drive job creation and economic development in the region.”
Minister of State for Employment, Small Business and Retail Alan Dillon TD emphasised the significance for Ireland’s west region: “Today’s announcement that ICS Medical will undergo further expansion, creating high quality skilled jobs here in the west of Ireland is very welcome.”
Dillon noted that the company’s impressive six-year growth trajectory demonstrates “that Ireland is leading in research and development within the medical device space.”
Jenny Melia, executive director and incoming CEO of Enterprise Ireland, highlighted ICS Medical’s position “at the forefront of innovation in the medtech sector, developing best in class catheter solutions to meet the needs of the global healthcare sector.”
She emphasised Enterprise Ireland’s commitment to supporting the company’s international expansion. “Supporting Irish companies with the ambition to scale globally is a key priority for Enterprise Ireland and we will continue to work closely with ICS Medical to optimise their full international growth potential.”
Melia also noted ICS Medical’s broader impact on Ireland’s medtech ecosystem, describing how the company’s rapid evolution “from a high potential start-up to an established highly regarded company” provides valuable expertise and services that help support other Irish start-ups in achieving key milestones.
CEO Seamus Fahey expressed gratitude for the continued support: “We are delighted to announce this continued expansion of ICS Medical Devices and the creation of 72 new jobs. This growth reflects the hard work of our team, the continued investment in new technologies, and the increasing demand for our services.”
