Senus Partners with Bank of Ireland to launch innovative farm environmental health reviews.
Environmental software company Senus has revealed a new pilot partnership with Bank of Ireland to offer innovative ‘Farm Environmental Health Reviews’ to the bank’s agricultural customers.
They claim this marks a significant step forward in supporting sustainable farming practices across Ireland.
“Farmers continue to implement a variety of sustainable actions on their farms to protect the local environment, and we want to recognise that”
The partnership, launched this month, represents a unique offering in the Irish agricultural sector and further enhances Bank of Ireland’s support for the industry’s environmental transition.
Senus, formerly known as ‘FarmEye,’ will deliver comprehensive environmental assessments to an initial cohort of Bank of Ireland farm customers during May and June.
Environmental insights for farmers
The software tool will evaluate each farm’s overall environmental status, capturing current sustainability approaches and providing farmers with high-level environmental insights. These assessments will inform bespoke action plans and outline specific areas for improvement.
“We see this initiative as a hugely positive step towards ensuring farmer recognition for the many positive environmental actions they take,” said Brendan Allen, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Senus.
“It will also clear the way for farmers to do even more in this area. We are delighted to work with Bank of Ireland on this project, which we expect will have a positive impact on the industry as a whole.”
The initiative builds upon Bank of Ireland’s existing sustainability programs. The bank’s Enviroflex sustainability-linked loans are now available to over 95% of Irish dairy farmers through 12 dairy Co-op partnerships, reflecting the bank’s ambition to deliver approximately €15 billion in Sustainable Finance lending by 2025.
Eoin Lowry, Head of Agri Sector at Bank of Ireland, emphasised the Bank’s commitment to supporting environmentally conscious farming: “Bank of Ireland understands that farming is a unique industry, embedded in the natural and local environment.
“Farmers continue to implement a variety of sustainable actions on their farms to protect the local environment, and we want to recognise that.”
The partnership represents a growing trend in the agricultural sector to leverage technology and financial incentives to promote sustainable farming practices while recognising the efforts farmers are already making to protect the environment.
Lowry added: “We are delighted to launch this pilot programme with Senus, introducing Farm Environmental Health Reviews to support farmers in better understanding their farms’ unique environmental footprint, and guiding them to implement enhanced farming practises of their own.”
