However, many of these venues offer group rates, guided tours, and tailored activities for company outings.

Beaches and Nature Walks

Yes I’m being very optimistic here! But in Ireland we don’t appreciate the beaches we have as much as we should. Not only for building sandcastles and swimming but also for water sports such as sailing, kayaking or sea swimming.
Beaches – According to this Irish Independent article the Co Wexford Strand won Ireland’s best beach in 2024. The article says it’s “a beautiful, golden, sandy beach as far as the eye can see,” readers told us. “Not commercialised,” one of you pointed out. “Just peace and quiet and so clean.” Several of our readers evoked walks on its “white sands”, painting pictures of “solitude for miles and miles”, of vistas that “go on and on”, “uninterrupted” immersion, of “beautiful sand, great waves, and miles and miles of it”. Nature Walks – They can be a great day trip if you have the right weather. It allows families to see flowers, plants and animals that they may not see elsewhere. It is also great exercise for the parents or caregivers and it can become a camping holiday in the right forests for a 2 or even 3 day hike. Crawford Art Gallery (Cork) – Although temporarily closed to the public for Transforming Crawford Art Gallery, a capital redevelopment project, Crawford Art Gallery remains a cultural gem in the heart of Cork City. National Museum of Ireland, Turlough Park – Located in County Mayo, this branch of the National Museum of Ireland explores rural Irish life through interactive exhibits and hands-on activities. It’s especially engaging for children, offering a glimpse into how Irish people lived, worked, and played in the past.
Ireland’s Historic Science Centre at Birr Castle Demesne (Birr, County Offaly) – The centre features an introductory video, interactive science exhibits, astronomical and engineering artefacts, and the story of the world-famous Leviathan telescope. It also houses one of the world’s oldest intact photography darkrooms with a modern hologram, making it a popular destination for families interested in space, technology, and science.

Titanic – There are two of these experiences throughout Ireland:
Titanic Experience Cobh, Co Cork Ireland where Titanic’s last 123 passengers boarded before its ill-fated journey in April 1912. The guided tour retraces the footsteps of these passengers, features replica cabins, original artefacts, and compelling audio-visual displays that bring their stories and the tragedy of the sinking vividly to life.
The larger experience is The Titanic Experience (pictured above) in Belfast where the multi-award winning Titanic Belfast is located in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter on the very site where the RMS Titanic was designed and built. The attraction features nine interactive galleries that take visitors on a self-guided journey through the ship’s conception, construction, launch, maiden voyage, and tragic sinking, using immersive exhibits, special effects, and full-scale reconstructions of cabins and engine rooms.
