The new roles at Egis will primarily be in engineering and will support the delivery of key infrastructure projects under the Government’s €275bn National Development Plan.
Engineering consultancy Egis plans to create 100 new jobs over the next year.
The expansion comes in response to increased investment in national infrastructure and a series of new contract wins.
“At Egis, our ambition is to help enable Ireland’s stable economic growth through the delivery of essential infrastructure and buildings that can deliver a better and more sustainable future for all”
The announcement was made during Tánaiste Simon Harris’s visit to Egis’ newly refurbished engineering headquarters at Classon House in Dundrum, Dublin 14, today (19 August 2025).
The headquarters previously housed JB Barry & Partners, which Egis acquired in 2023. The acquisition significantly boosted Egis’s expertise and presence in Ireland, building on JB Barry’s work on major projects such as the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade, the N22 Cork to Limerick route, and the N17/N18 Gort to Tuam motorway scheme.
A crucial time for infrastructure delivery
Egis has already hired 80 engineers in Ireland over the past two years, bringing its total workforce to more than 630 across 16 offices and sites. The new roles will primarily be in engineering and will support the delivery of key infrastructure projects under the Government’s €275bn National Development Plan.
The business is currently involved in several high-profile projects, including operating and maintaining the Dublin Tunnel and Jack Lynch Tunnel, monitoring 1,200km of motorway, engineering for the Adare Bypass, and conducting energy assessments on 4,000 schools as part of the REPower EU Energy Survey.
“This event marks the final step in the successful integration of JB Barry & Partners into Egis and I would like to acknowledge the positive impact our acquisition of the company has had and the strong position it has put us in,” said Steve Preece, CEO of Egis in Ireland. “I am also pleased to announce our plans to recruit 100 more staff in the next year.”
“At Egis, our ambition is to help enable Ireland’s stable economic growth through the delivery of essential infrastructure and buildings that can deliver a better and more sustainable future for all.
“Our plan to increase staff numbers comes as the Government and state agencies are investing in major infrastructure projects and undertaking updating works on existing infrastructure. By investing in new staff, we are seeking to position ourselves to successfully compete for a share of this work and to provide the support and expertise required to ensure the Government maximises the return on its investment,” he said.
Speaking at the opening, Tánaiste Simon Harris, TD, said: “I’m delighted to officially open Egis’ newly refurbished engineering headquarters. I would like to congratulate the company on its past achievements and to wish it further success in the future.
“Egis has already successfully partnered with the Government and with a number of state agencies on the delivery and operation of major infrastructure projects, so I greatly welcome the company’s plans to continue expanding and to create 100 new jobs over the next year.”
“This is a crucial time for infrastructure delivery, and the Government is investing significantly to ensure the country can continue to meet the demands of a growing population, provide a high quality of life for citizens, support businesses and maintain the country’s attractiveness to investors. To do this, we will need the expertise of engineers and it’s great that companies, such as Egis, are doing all they can to assist in delivering on the Government’s ambition and vision,” Minister Harris added.
