Wendy’s to open first Irish restaurant at Mahon Point, creating 50 jobs.

Corrib Oil has confirmed that the first Wendy’s restaurant in Ireland will open this October at Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Cork.

The launch marks the beginning of a new partnership between Corrib Oil and the global quick-service restaurant brand, creating 50 new jobs in the process.

“Corrib Oil’s partnership with Wendy’s not only brings a new face to the Rebel County, but unites two brands committed to quality, community, and exceptional customer experiences. This is just the beginning”

Recruitment is now underway for full- and part-time crew members at the Mahon Point location. Interested applicants can apply here.

Michael Dalton, managing director of Corrib Brands, said the opening represents a significant step for both companies.

“Corrib Oil’s partnership with Wendy’s not only brings a new face to the Rebel County, but unites two brands committed to quality, community, and exceptional customer experiences. This is just the beginning.”

Squaring up for a tasty new experience

Wendy’s, known for its square hamburgers, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, nuggets, and Frosty dessert, will offer a full menu including breakfast items, wraps, and kids’ meals. All beef and chicken served will be 100% fresh and sourced from Irish suppliers.

“Ireland is a great market for long-term growth, and we’re proud to see our brand come to life here through our partnership with Corrib Oil”

Michael Clarke, managing director for Europe at The Wendy’s Company, said the Irish market holds strong potential.

“Ireland is a great market for long-term growth, and we’re proud to see our brand come to life here through our partnership with Corrib Oil. Their deep roots in the community and commitment to operational excellence make them an ideal partner to deliver the Wendy’s ‘globally great, locally even better’ experience.”

Founded in 1987, Corrib Oil operates 40 convenience stores with forecourts and 20 fuel depots across 17 counties. The company plans to expand to 100 locations by 2030, with the Wendy’s partnership forming a key part of that strategy.

Mahon Point Shopping Centre, located just outside Cork city, attracts over six million visitors annually. With more than 60 retail outlets, a 13-screen cinema, and a wide range of food and beverage options, it is considered one of Ireland’s premier retail destinations.

Justin Young, centre director at Mahon Point, welcomed the announcement. “To be part of bringing the very first Wendy’s restaurant to Ireland is really special. This opening is great news for Cork – not only does it create 50 new local jobs, but it also gives people the opportunity to enjoy the craveable, high-quality food Wendy’s is famous for.”
