Global digital infrastructure specialist to expand Donegal manufacturing footprint with new investment supporting growing demand from AI, hyperscale and colocation data centre markets.
Capitalising on the AI infrastructure boom, US business Vertiv has announced plans to create up to 300 new jobs in Letterkenny as part of a major expansion of its manufacturing and testing operations in Ireland and the North West.
The investment comes as global demand accelerates for the infrastructure required to support artificial intelligence, hyperscale and colocation data centres.

The company plans to submit an application to Donegal County Council for an additional 7,000 square metres of space at its Letterkenny facility.
The project would strengthen Vertiv’s existing presence across Ireland and the North West, where it operates facilities in Letterkenny, Burnfoot and Campsie in Derry, as well as a Central Procurement Office in Limerick and a sales and service office in Dublin.
Vertiv said it has already onboarded more than 500 employees across its local operations since the start of 2026 and is continuing to recruit for a growing number of vacancies.
The planned expansion is expected to create engineering and operational roles that will increase manufacturing capacity and support the development of power, cooling and industrialised infrastructure solutions used in data centres and other mission-critical environments.
Regional AI powerhouse
Welcoming the announcement, Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD said: “Vertiv’s decision to expand in Donegal and create hundreds of new skilled jobs is very welcome news for the region and for Ireland.
“Investments of this scale support balanced regional development, strengthen our enterprise base, and demonstrate the confidence international companies continue to place in Ireland as a location for long-term growth.”
Headquartered in Westerville, Ohio, Vertiv operates in more than 130 countries, providing power, cooling, IT infrastructure and software solutions for data centres, communications networks and industrial facilities.
The planned Donegal expansion forms part of the company’s efforts to meet growing global demand for the digital infrastructure underpinning AI and cloud computing services.
Paul Ryan, president of Vertiv in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), said the investment underlines the growing importance of the company’s Irish operations.
“This planned investment reflects the strategic importance of our operations across Ireland and the North West. As demand for critical digital infrastructure continues to accelerate, we are helping customers to deploy AI and data centre capacity worldwide.
“The expected extension, together with continued recruitment across our facilities, is part of our ongoing actions to support continued growth, while creating opportunities for skills development and career growth across the region,” he said.
The project is being supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.
Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke TD said the investment highlights the North West’s growing role in attracting high-value international investment.
