Irish-founded fintech Stripe to power payments across ticketing, hospitality, retail and catering at the 2027 and 2029 Ryder Cups.
Stripe, the global fintech founded by Irish brothers John and Patrick Collison, has been named a Worldwide Partner and official payment solutions partner of the Ryder Cup under a new agreement covering the 2027 tournament at Adare Manor in Limerick and the 2029 event in Minnesota.
The partnership, announced jointly by Ryder Cup Europe and the PGA of America, will see the Irish-founded financial infrastructure company expand its role with one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, supporting payment services across ticketing, hospitality, merchandise and on-site retail operations.
“The Ryder Cup has grown to become one of the biggest events in global sport”
Founded by the Collisons in San Francisco and dual-headquartered in Dublin, Stripe will help deliver a fully integrated payment experience for fans attending both tournaments. The payments firm is reportedly pursuing the acquisition of payments giant PayPal.
Teeing things up
The Ryder Cup, which was established in 1927 and is contested biennially between teams representing Europe and the United States, attracts millions of viewers worldwide and draws hundreds of thousands of spectators to the host venue.
“Some of the world’s most complex businesses rely on Stripe for their financial infrastructure, from payments to managing billing, revenue, and money movement,” said Conor McNamara, chief Revenue officer at Stripe.
“An event like the Ryder Cup, hundreds of thousands of fans with payments running across ticketing, food and beverage, and merchandise, is exactly the kind of scale Stripe operates at everyday.
“We’re proud to become a Worldwide Partner and to power the full fan journey, from buying tickets at home, to spending at the golf course.”
Under the agreement, online ticket sales and hospitality packages will be processed through a single checkout experience powered by Stripe. The company said its Link product will enable one-click payments, while local payment methods will support fans travelling from international markets.
Guy Kinnings, Chief Executive Officer of the European Tour group, said the partnership would support the continued growth of the event and enhance the visitor experience at Adare Manor.
“The Ryder Cup has grown to become one of the biggest events in global sport. The ticketing, merchandise and catering operations are significant, with over 70,000 square feet of merchandise space alone at the 2025 match in New York.
“Stripe’s technology platforms will help us to deliver a cashless experience in Ireland with increased speed and convenience for our fans around the world.”
Terry Clark, chief executive officer of the PGA of America, said Stripe’s payment infrastructure would support spectators across every stage of their experience at Hazeltine in 2029.
“We are proud to welcome Stripe as a Worldwide Partner of golf’s greatest team event. By leveraging Stripe’s advanced payment solutions, we are excited to offer spectators at the 47th Ryder Cup at Hazeltine a seamless payment experience at every touchpoint.”
