In a boost for urban broadband reach, Imagine to offer services to more than 700,000 premises as partnership with SIRO expands Ireland’s fibre-to-the-home market.
SIRO has signed a new agreement giving broadband retailer Imagine access to its full fibre network, a move set to expand high speed broadband options across Irish towns and cities.
The deal allows Imagine to sell fibre products to more than 700,000 homes and businesses already passed by SIRO’s infrastructure. SIRO’s wholesale network now covers over 150 urban areas across all counties as its nationwide rollout continues.
“This partnership with SIRO allows Imagine to bring high quality full fibre broadband into more towns and cities across Ireland”
As a wholesale operator, SIRO works with broadband retailers that resell its connectivity to residential and business users. Adding Imagine to that roster broadens the retailer’s reach and strengthens its ability to compete in an increasingly fibre focused market.
Multi gigabit broadband access
Ronan Whelan, SIRO’s chief commercial officer, said the partnership would benefit households seeking reliable full fibre services. “Today’s partnership is good news for Imagine customers, ensuring they can enjoy SIRO’s fast, reliable and trusted fibre broadband,” he said.
He added that SIRO’s approach has long centred on working with retailers to deliver high quality services, describing Imagine as having “a strong reputation for customer service and excellence”.
The agreement gives Imagine access to SIRO’s multi gigabit network, which currently offers speeds of up to 5 gigabits to residential customers. SIRO said its infrastructure has been built with a capacity of up to 25 gigabits to support long term bandwidth growth.
For Imagine, the move marks a significant expansion of its fibre footprint and plays into plans to grow its subscriber base.
Glenda Brady, the company’s commercial director, said the partnership allows the retailer to bring full fibre into more towns and cities while complementing its existing network.
“This partnership with SIRO allows Imagine to bring high quality full fibre broadband into more towns and cities across Ireland, complementing our existing network and expanding our footprint so we can double our customer base,” she said.
Brady noted that the retailer is positioning its fibre services around transparent pricing and reliability.
“Customers want reliability, clarity and pricing they can trust, not short term deals that change after a year,” she said. She added that Imagine’s fibre plans will maintain one clear price, frozen until the end of 2030, and offer flexibility for customers who wish to change provider.
Partnering with SIRO, she said, would allow that model to be extended to a wider base of homes and businesses.
The agreement adds further momentum to the shift toward full fibre broadband in Ireland, where retailers are competing to reach customers seeking faster connections and predictable service quality.
