Cork energy solutions firm SE Systems unveils major expansion strategy centered on new €3m Cork HQ and national growth.
Independent energy businesses SE Systems has revealed plans to create up to 150 new jobs over the next two years as part of an ambitious expansion strategy that aims to double annual turnover to €100m by 2030.
The announcement was made by EU Commissioner Michael McGrath during the official opening of the company’s new headquarters in Dublin Hill, Cork, a €3 million investment that forms a key part of SE Systems’ national growth plans.
“This expansion reflects the growing demand for practical and innovative energy efficiency solutions across Ireland”
The new A-rated facility spans 15,000 sq ft and will serve as a base for the company as it expands operations to meet increasing demand from homeowners, communities and businesses seeking energy efficiency, solar and retrofit solutions.

The plan also includes the planned expansion of the company’s Dublin office and the development of strategic partnerships across Ireland to meet growing demand for energy efficiency, decarbonisation and energy management services. They also plan to expand regional hubs across Clare, Donegal and Louth.
Energy and ambition
Founded in 2010, SE Systems works with homeowners, businesses and public sector organisations to support and implement their energy efficiency plans, including handling grant applications for solar and heat pump installation, and wider energy efficiency. SE Systems currently employs 112 staff and is supported by a network of 300 specialist subcontractors.
The company has retrofitted almost 15,000 homes and 2,000 commercial buildings since 2010. Among the commercial partners it has worked with are Tesco, ESB Smart Energy Services, Stryker and Johnson & Johnson.
EU Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath, said: “SE Systems is a prime example of a home-grown business going from strength to strength. The creation of 150 jobs is welcome news in any sector, but especially in the renewable and green economy.
“Renewable industries are not only good for the planet – they also create high-quality jobs and drive economic growth. Through investment in strategic planning, digital platforms, and energy monitoring and metering technologies, SE Systems is well positioned to support organisations in transitioning to all-electric operations and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.”
Of the 150 jobs created, SE Systems plans to recruit across a broad range of disciplines, including engineering, project management, energy services, software and digital technologies, operations, technical support and business development, creating opportunities for both experienced professionals and those entering the workforce.
It also plans to invest further in workforce development by expanding training and career opportunities in partnership with educational institutions, apprenticeship providers and industry. Initiatives will include apprenticeships, graduate recruitment, professional development and upskilling programmes, alongside new career pathways in engineering, energy management and digital technologies.
“This expansion reflects the growing demand for practical and innovative energy efficiency solutions across Ireland,” said co-founder and CEO John O’Leary. “Our investment in Cork, expansion in Dublin and development of partnerships nationwide will allow us to support more organisations and communities as they reduce energy costs, improve sustainability performance and transition towards a low-carbon future.
“The creation of 150 new jobs demonstrates our confidence in both the sector and the opportunities ahead.”
SE Systems also works with homeowners, communities, and businesses to access retrofitting grants as part of a ‘one-stop-shop’ service, reducing the administrative burden for its clients and helping them to reduce energy consumption, lower carbon emissions and achieve sustainability goals.
It has unlocked nearly €1 billion in energy-saving grants for customers over the last 16 years and processes around €100m in commercial and community energy grants for customers annually. From SE Systems projects, over 1.6 billion kWh of energy has been saved, and 358,000 tonnes of CO2 have been saved since 2010.
Co-founder and managing director Youenn Lowry added: “People are at the centre of our success. As we grow, we are committed not only to creating employment but also to developing the next generation of energy professionals.
“Through apprenticeships, graduate programmes, training supports and partnerships with third-level colleges, we aim to build a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting Ireland’s future energy challenges while supporting our ambition to double turnover to €100 million within three years.”
