Irish IT services firm Qualcom to hire four specialists and deepen focus on secure AI deployment.
Qualcom, the Irish IT and cybersecurity services provider, is investing €500,000 over the next three years to establish a dedicated artificial intelligence practice as more of its customers seek to integrate AI tools into their operations.
The Dublin-based company plans to recruit four AI specialists as part of the expansion. The investment also covers upskilling for existing teams and a new partnership with NROC, the AI infrastructure provider.
“There is no doubt that applications of AI will continue to grow exponentially”
Qualcom will use NROC’s technology to offer what it describes as a fully managed and secured AI environment for client organisations.
Emerging regulatory requirements
The firm said the new practice is intended to help businesses adopt AI tools in line with emerging regulatory requirements. As part of the launch, Qualcom has created an AI policy framework aimed at enabling clients to deploy platforms such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT while safeguarding sensitive data.
David Kinsella, Qualcom’s technical director, said the move reflects both rising customer interest and the company’s long-term strategy.
“This investment in our people, platforms and capabilities reflects our commitment to supporting customers as they navigate the opportunities and risks of AI,” he said. “The launch of the new practice will enable us to adapt quickly in line with industry demand, delivering right first time services that maximise IT uptime for businesses in Ireland.”
He added that the use of AI is expected to expand rapidly in the coming years. “As we look ahead to the next three years, there is no doubt that applications of AI will continue to grow exponentially. We are looking forward to working closely with customers as we support the secure rollout of AI tools to help them keep pace with their competitors.”
The investment follows a period of growth at Qualcom, which marked 30 years in business in 2025. The company recently increased headcount at its support centre by one third and upgraded its Dublin headquarters as part of its broader expansion plans.
Qualcom provides IT and cybersecurity services to organisations across the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, the UK and the Channel Islands. It said its long-standing focus on anticipating customer needs helped it achieve a 100 per cent customer retention rate last year.
