Dublin business NewsWhip powers the agentic AI future of news

Irish tech business NewsWhip launches real-time AI monitoring agent for media intelligence.

Dublin-born media intelligence company NewsWhip has announced the launch of what it describes as the world’s first real-time AI Monitoring Agent.

The new tool is designed to help communications teams detect emerging narratives and business risks, providing alerts and context to support timely decision-making.

“Agentic AI will transform the game for brand and issue monitoring”

The AI Monitoring Agent builds on NewsWhip’s existing platform, which tracks real-time engagement across both mainstream and non-linear media sources. These include Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, and Substack. The platform indexes millions of stories per hour to identify what is gaining traction and why.

A new meaning for ‘news agent’

NewsWhip, which is based in both Dublin and New York, is currently used by global brands such as Google, Nissan, Walmart, Deloitte, and Cigna, as well as publishers including Reuters, the Associated Press, and Condé Nast.

The company has raised more than $20 million from investors including the Associated Press, Tribal VS, and Asahi Shimbun. Development of the AI Monitoring Agent was financially supported by a leading global beverage brand.

Paul Quigley, CEO and co-founder of NewsWhip, said the new tool is designed to meet the needs of modern communications teams.

“Agentic AI will transform the game for brand and issue monitoring,” he said. “Our Agent stands on the shoulders of NewsWhip’s unique real-time news and social engagement data. It brings together the speed of the newsroom with the trusted capability of a media analyst.”

NewsWhip’s platform provides users with a single, real-time view of what is breaking, where it is gaining traction, and what is likely to come next. The AI Agent interprets data, identifies early signals, and highlights stories that require attention, helping teams focus on what matters most.

Benjamin Kocsis, Global Communications Insight Analyst at Ford Motor Company, said the tool is already proving valuable. “To have an Agent in NewsWhip that allows us to constantly be on the lookout for reputational risks and opportunities is invaluable,” he said.

How it works

NewsWhip’s AI Monitoring Agent includes several advanced features designed to help communications professionals manage the complexity of today’s media environment. Here are the key capabilities:

  1. Real-Time Narrative Detection

The Agent continuously monitors millions of media and social signals per hour. It identifies emerging narratives as they begin to gain traction, allowing teams to act early. This includes tracking engagement across platforms like Facebook, Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, and Substack.

  1. Predictive Momentum Scoring

At the heart of the system is a dynamic scoring engine that predicts which stories are likely to grow in relevance. This helps users prioritize what to monitor and respond to, based on projected impact rather than just volume.

  1. Contextual Briefings

Instead of flooding users with alerts, the Agent delivers curated, contextual briefings. These briefings explain why a story matters, how it is evolving, and what the potential reputational implications are. This is especially useful for early-morning updates or executive summaries.

  1. Proactive Alerts

The system uses intelligent signals to trigger alerts only when necessary. These alerts are not based on simple keyword mentions but on deeper analysis of narrative development and engagement patterns.

  1. Agentic Decision Support

Unlike traditional dashboards, the Agent acts as a decision-support tool. It interprets data, flags risks and opportunities, and recommends actions. This reduces the cognitive load on communications teams and supports faster, more confident decision-making.
