Neurent Medical opens new manufacturing facility in Galway to drive new product journey.
Medical technology company Neurent Medical officially opened its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Westlink Commercial Park in Oranmore.
The business also revealed that it will create 125 highly skilled jobs by the end of 2028.
“We’re proud to scale our operations in Galway, where the medtech ecosystem continues to thrive”
Neurent’s new facility will serve as the central production hub for the company’s innovative Neuromark system, a minimally invasive treatment for chronic rhinitis.
The new jobs will span key functions including engineering, quality control, operations, supply chain management, and sales and marketing.
Regional innovation
In-house manufacturing of Neuromark will enable Neurent Medical to strengthen its control over product quality, innovation, and international distribution while deepening its regional footprint in Galway.
“I want to congratulate Neurent Medical on this significant achievement,” said Hildegarde Naughton, TD, Minister of State at the Department of Children, Disability and Equality. “Galway is known as a major player in medical technology, being home to eight of the world’s top 10 medtech companies. Today’s announcement is further evidence of that and, as a native myself, I am particularly proud to see 125 new highly skilled jobs being created by a company based in Oranmore. It is also highly notable that this is an Irish company, supported by Enterprise Ireland, and selling into the US market.”
Neurent Medical originated from the Enterprise Ireland-supported BioInnovate Ireland Programme and has grown from concept to commercialisation within a decade, emerging as one of Ireland’s MedTech success stories.
Brian Shields, CEO of Neurent Medical emphasised the strategic importance of the Galway location.
“We’re proud to scale our operations in Galway, where the medtech ecosystem continues to thrive.
“Our new Westlink facility gives us the manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand for Neuromark, while creating high skilled employment opportunities and contributing to economic vitality in the west of Ireland. As an Irish-founded company, we’re excited to manufacture our product locally with the exceptional skills available and deliver Irish-engineered medtech innovation to the world.”
The expansion follows recent FDA 510(k) clearance for the company’s next-generation Neuromark system, paving the way for broader commercialisation in the United States. The company continues to collaborate with regional enterprise partners, including Enterprise Ireland and local academic institutions.
Jenny Melia, executive director and incoming CEO at Enterprise Ireland, highlighted the broader significance. “I wish to congratulate Neurent Medical on their new state-of-the-art facility here in Galway. Today’s announcement of new jobs based here in Oranmore shows that Ireland is leading in research and development within the medical device space.
“Neurent Medical has experienced impressive growth in a short period of time beginning its journey through the BioInnovate Ireland Programme here in Galway with further support awarded through EI’s Commercialisation fund programme and through the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund administered by Enterprise Ireland for the development of the Neuromark technology.”
