Ireland’s retail sector

The retail sector is a pivotal element of the Irish economy employing  more than 300,000 people nationwide.

It generates sales in excess of €30bn annually, accounting for around 12% of Ireland’s GDP. It also delivers around €7bn in tax revenue to the State. 

With over 70pc of retail jobs based outside of Dublin, the sector plays a critical role in regional development.

Irish retailers are proactively moving to an omnichannel model – delivering a physical store and online option to the consumer.
