F5’s acquisition of CalypsoAI is part of a global trend of cybersecurity companies acquiring specialist AI security companies to gain expertise and traction in AI.
The acquisition of Dublin tech firm CalypsoAI by Seattle software player F5 has formally closed.
Announced in recent weeks, the deal will strengthen F5’s enterprise AI security capabilities.
“AI is redefining enterprise architecture and the attack surface companies must defend,” said François Locoh-Donou, CEO of F5.
“Traditional firewalls and point solutions can’t keep up. The addition of CalypsoAI will give enterprises the confidence to innovate faster and better protect critical data as they rely on F5 to deliver and secure apps, APIs, and AI models across their environment.”
Real-time threat defence
CalypsoAI’s platform offers real-time threat defence, scalable red teaming, and data protection for enterprises deploying generative and agentic AI.
Irish executives Donnchadh Casey, CEO, and James White, CTO, continue to lead the CalypsoAI business and team within F5.

The acquisition aligns with Gartner’s recent guidance on AI Trust, Risk and Security Management (TRiSM), which emphasises the importance of independence from frontier model providers to ensure scalability, flexibility, cost control, and trust.
