Ekco bets €10m on Caribbean growth with Trinidad hub

Irish cybersecurity firm targets regulated sectors as regional revenues set to more than double.

Ekco, the Irish-headquartered managed services provider, is investing €10 million to expand its footprint in the Caribbean, opening a new office in Trinidad and Tobago and creating 18 jobs by the end of 2027.

The move will see the Dublin-based company more than double its regional revenues from €2 million to €5 million over the next two years, driven by demand from organisations in highly regulated sectors such as financial services, legal and government.

“We believe that the region will provide rapid business growth opportunities for Ekco and support the continued expansion of our skilled team”

Mark Donnellan, Ekco’s head of business development for the Caribbean, said the company sees strong growth potential in the region.

“As we continue to scale up our operations in the Caribbean, we are excited to boost our offering for businesses, grow our customer base and forge deeper relationships with valued partners in the market,” he said.

Ekco has operated in the Caribbean for more than a decade and works with clients in countries including Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Jamaica. The new base will allow the company to deepen relationships with long-standing customers and strengthen its regional presence.

The expansion comes amid rising cyber threats and tightening regulatory requirements, which are putting pressure on organisations to bolster their defences.

“Against a rising tide of cyber threats and a backdrop of increasing regulations, our team can help to fill widening technology skills gaps and enable businesses to remain competitive,” Donnellan said.

Ekco plans to build on partnerships with the Caribbean Telecommunications Union and Digicel to enhance its capabilities and accelerate growth. The new roles, which will be based globally but focused on the Caribbean market, will include sales and technical positions.

Founded in Ireland, Ekco employs more than 1,000 people across the UK, Europe, Asia, Africa and the US. The company’s global expansion strategy is being driven by organic growth and a series of acquisitions.

“We believe that the region will provide rapid business growth opportunities for Ekco and support the continued expansion of our skilled team,” Donnellan said. “We are looking forward to strengthening our footprint in the Caribbean and, in doing so, supporting its growing economy.”
