Engineering firm DECI to create 250 jobs as it expands in US

Limerick company DECI strengthens presence in the world’s largest data centre market as demand for AI and cloud infrastructure accelerates.

Irish engineering and commissioning specialist DECI Ltd is to create 250 new jobs as part of a major international expansion that includes the opening of a new office in Chicago.

The Limerick-headquartered company said the investment marks the latest stage of its growth strategy and will significantly strengthen its presence in the United States, where it is already involved in several large-scale data centre projects.

“Expanding our North American presence with the opening of our Chicago office is a defining moment for DECI in the US”

The move comes as the US data centre sector continues to grow rapidly, fuelled by rising demand for artificial intelligence technologies, cloud computing services and wider digital infrastructure.

The company officially marked the opening of the new office with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception attended by clients, suppliers and colleagues who have supported DECI’s growth in the region.

The creation of 250 new jobs is expected to support DECI’s growing project pipeline and reinforce its position as a specialist provider of commissioning services to the global digital infrastructure sector.

Data centre boom

The increasing scale and complexity of these projects is driving demand for specialist commissioning and testing services to ensure critical systems operate as intended before facilities become fully operational.

DECI has built its reputation in commissioning, testing and performance verification services for mission-critical facilities, supporting clients through the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.

The company said its new Chicago office will provide a stronger base for its growing team of engineers and project specialists across North America. It will also allow DECI to work more closely with clients throughout the planning, testing and commissioning phases of projects.

Commenting on the expansion, Colm Phelan, Managing Director of DECI Ltd, said the expansion represents a significant milestone for the Irish firm as it deepens its involvement in one of the world’s most active markets for data centre development.

“Expanding our North American presence with the opening of our Chicago office is a defining moment for DECI in the US.

“It puts us closer to our clients, suppliers and the wider construction community, and it strengthens our ability to deliver the rigorous CxA commissioning and testing that mission-critical projects demand, right where our clients need us.”
