US-based company Datavant leads the world in secure healthcare data exchange.
Datavant has revealed that its new global R&D centre will be headquartered at the Bonham Quay campus in Galway city, resulting in potentially 160 new jobs.
This move marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into Ireland.
“The Bonham Quay campus offers Datavant Ireland an ideal environment to build a culture of creativity, innovation and empowerment as we devise new ways of applying advanced technology to solve complex challenges in health care”
Datavant will occupy the top two floors of the Calatrava building, a modern 15,000-square-foot office space located on Galway’s waterfront. The 7th floor is expected to be completed by mid-September, with the 6th floor following by the end of the year.
The business plans to create 125 jobs initially, with the new headquarters designed to accommodate up to 160 workspaces. The facility will feature bespoke environments for town hall meetings, team collaborations, ideation sessions, and recreational activities.
Boosting creativity
The company has appointed Deirdre Giblin, an internationally experienced technology business leader, as VP of Operations and site lead for Datavant Ireland. Her initial focus will be establishing the state-of-the-art R&D centre’s operational activities.
“We are delighted to have selected Bonham Quay as the headquarters for the Datavant Ireland global R&D centre,” said Giblin.
“Datavant offers hybrid remote flexibility because we firmly believe in creating opportunities for our team members to excel in the environments that suit them best. Now, Datavant staff can combine working from a home office when it suits them to joining us in a state-of-the-art collaborative space in the heart of Galway that has been designed to foster both team and individual creativity.”
The Bonham Quay campus aligns with Datavant’s sustainability values. The development adheres to the One Planet Living framework, aiming to create environmentally and socially sustainable workspaces. It is also designed to achieve Gold LEED certification, as well as Gold in the WELL Building Standard and Wired Certification.
“The Bonham Quay campus offers Datavant Ireland an ideal environment to build a culture of creativity, innovation and empowerment as we devise new ways of applying advanced technology to solve complex challenges in health care,” Giblin added.
Datavant, which employs over 8,000 people globally, is renowned for its secure and compliant healthcare data exchange platform. Its U.S.-based network enables privacy-preserving data sharing across life sciences, payers, and providers.
Giblin said that with its new Galway base, Datavant is poised to further its mission of making health data secure, accessible, and actionable on a global scale.
