Datavant surpasses hiring goals in Galway

Datavant accelerates Irish expansion with 40 new hires and CTO appointment.

Healthcare data collaboration platform Datavant has revealed it is adding more than 40 new hires to its Irish team, surpassing its 2025 hiring target three months ahead of schedule.

The company is continuing to recruit at pace for its global R&D centre in Galway, which was launched in March with plans to create 125 roles by the end of 2027.

“What excites me most is the opportunity to grow our technology presence here in the west of Ireland, building a hub that will play a central role in Datavant’s global engineering efforts”

The newly filled positions span software engineering, data science, test automation, product management, IT, and technical writing. The next phase of recruitment is underway, with a focus on full stack and front-end engineers, cloud engineers, test engineers, IT professionals, and data scientists. Software engineering managers are also being actively recruited.

Datavant has appointed Josh Builder as chief technology officer. Based in New York, Builder is well known in Galway’s tech sector, having previously led expansions for Signify Health and Rent the Runway, both of which had significant operations in the city. He also held senior roles at CVS Health, SoulCycle, and Rent the Runway.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the incredible team at Datavant,” said Builder. “What excites me most is the opportunity to grow our technology presence here in the west of Ireland, building a hub that will play a central role in Datavant’s global engineering efforts.

“As CTO, my focus will be on positioning our teams to deliver at scale, investing in our people, and making sure our technology continues to set the bar for reliability and innovation in healthcare. On a personal note, it’s wonderful to be back in Galway, a city where I’ve spent some of the most meaningful years of my career.”

Datavant CEO Kyle Armbrester visited Galway to make the announcement, joined by members of the executive leadership team including Builder, chief people officer Susan Yun, chief financial officer Jennifer Williams, and chief product officer Sam Diederich.

The company is currently operating from the PorterShed in Galway city centre and will move into a new 15,000 square foot office at the Bonham Quay campus in early 2026. The new headquarters will feature up to 160 workspaces and dedicated areas for town hall meetings, team collaboration, and recreational activities.

Deirdre Giblin, VP of Global Technology Operations and Site Lead for Datavant Ireland, said the response to the company’s hiring campaign has exceeded expectations.

“Since launching on March 31st, we’ve built a strong foundation here in Galway, and reaching more than 40 hires in our first six months has exceeded all our expectations. It’s a major milestone and a clear signal of the strength of the talent pipeline we’re tapping into here in Ireland,” said Giblin.

“We’ve attracted exceptional people across core areas like software engineering, data science, test automation and technical writing. The engineers and data scientists we’ve hired are solving complex challenges, while our test teams are ensuring every product we release meets the highest standards. The addition of technical writers has been a strategic investment, helping ensure our users understand and benefit fully from the products we build.”

Datavant, which employs more than 8,000 people globally, is recognised as a leader in secure and compliant healthcare data exchange. Its platform enables privacy-preserving data sharing across life sciences, payers, and providers in the United States.

The Galway R&D centre is already operating as an integrated part of the company’s global product development strategy.
