New DPD distribution centre at Newlands Cross to boost parcel handling capacity to 10,000 packages per hour ahead of peak demand growth.
DPD Ireland has revealed a €10 million investment in a new distribution hub in Dublin, a move that will create more than 200 jobs and significantly expand the company’s logistics and parcel handling capacity.
The country’s largest parcel delivery network said the new facility will be developed at Gateway Logistics Park, Newlands Cross, on the Naas Road in Dublin 22. The investment comes as the company reports continued growth across its next-day delivery, logistics services and Out of Home operations.
“This new hub strongly positions us to meet rising parcel delivery demand and ensures that we continue to provide the high level of service that our customers expect, year-round”
The expansion will see DPD Ireland increase its workforce by more than 200 employees across operations, driving and administration roles.
Have robots, will deliver
The company is also deploying 270 autonomous robots at the new hub, replacing traditional conveyor operations and strengthening its parcel sorting capabilities. Once fully operational, the facility will be capable of handling up to 10,000 parcels every hour.
DPD Ireland chief executive Des Travers said the investment reflects both customer demand and the company’s ongoing growth trajectory.
“We are delighted to announce this significant investment in our infrastructure and our people. This expansion is a direct result of the 99% service level we consistently deliver to our customers. Their trust and continued support have enabled our growth across all areas of the business.”
Travers said the additional capacity will help the company accommodate increasing parcel volumes while maintaining service standards.
“This new hub strongly positions us to meet rising parcel delivery demand and ensures that we continue to provide the high level of service that our customers expect, year-round. It is an exciting step forward for DPD Ireland as we build for the future.”
The new distribution centre is scheduled to become fully operational in October 2026.
DPD Ireland currently operates a nationwide network of 37 depots and has continued to invest in technology and sustainability initiatives, including the expansion of its electric vehicle fleet.
