The Backing Business initiative was introduced to support the recovery of Irish SMEs.
With over 220 Irish businesses featured, Virgin Media’s Backing Business campaign has smashed through its goal of delivering over €1 million worth of promotional support to Irish businesses across the country.
The value delivered now stands at €1,195,250 and continues to grow.
The Backing Business initiative was introduced to support the recovery of Irish SMEs that were severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and gives these companies a national platform to showcase their resilience.
The campaign has been running since May and has featured 39 businesses as part of the dedicated TV advertising slots. A further 72 businesses have been featured across Virgin Media’s official social media channels, while the remaining 110 businesses involved in the campaign have featured on Ireland AM.
“It’s fantastic to see how it (the campaign) has helped such a wide group of businesses and we hope each and every one of them go on to achieve even greater success into the future”
“With our Backing Business campaign, we set out to support as many companies as possible, from right across Ireland who have been affected by the global pandemic,” said Aidan Darcy, director of business at Virgin Media.
“Today’s results showcase just how much of an impact the campaign has had and, over the course of the last couple of months, the responses to the campaign have been incredible. It’s fantastic to see how it has helped such a wide group of businesses and we hope each and every one of them go on to achieve even greater success into the future.”
Last month, across Virgin Media One, Two and Three, the Backing Business advertisements for each of the selected Irish SMEs had reached over 2,000,000 views.
The latest company to benefit from Virgin Media’s #BackingBusiness initiative is Dublin-based coffee roasters, Imbibe, who are a coffee company doing business differently. They will feature on Ireland AM’s #BackingBusiness segment.
Gary Grant, principal at Imbibe Coffee Roasters said; “We’re so happy to be selected and showcased as part of Virgin Media’s #BackingBusiness campaign. At Imbibe, we’ve brought some of the best coffees on the planet to Ireland, but in a way that is very socially aware, we do capitalism but with a conscience.”
How to enter
The Virgin Media #BackingBusiness initiative is designed to underpin the renewal and recovery of businesses in communities throughout Ireland in response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
It’s open to businesses across the country and aims to give them a national platform to showcase their resilience and ingenuity during these challenging times. It will feature as many Irish businesses as possible and entering is easy.
All business owners have to do is to send in a short email, outlining who and where they are, some of their main products or services and how they have coped and reinvented themselves through the current crisis.
The ideal way to do this is to take a short video by mobile phone (including shots of the business premises). You can simply email submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org or WhatsApp them on 089 611 1111.
