Dublin native Dermot McCormack, a digital pioneer in the US and a former leading executive at MTV and AOL, has been appointed president of Hollywood live entertainment firm LiveXLive.
LiveXLive delivers premium livestreams, digital audio and on-demand music experiences from the world’s top music festivals and concerts, including Rock in Rio, EDC Las Vegas, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and many others.
McCormack will lead the business and creative operations of LiveXLive, with immediate effect.

Involved in AOL’s sale to Verizon, McCormack previously served as AOL’s global president of Video and Studios, where he oversaw the video business for brands ranging from HuffPost to TechCrunch, and developed episodic programming including James Franco’s Making A Scene and Steve Buscemi’s Emmy Award-winning Park Bench.
Prior to his tenure at AOL, McCormack was executive vice-president of Digital Media for Viacom’s Music Group and helped MTV build a user base of more than 100m followers.

Also a noted fintech pioneer, he was CTO and co-founder of Flooz.com, an online precursor to PayPal and and Bitcoin and prior to that was one of the earliest employees of large-scale content portal iVillage.com.
Before joining LiveXlive, McCormack co-founded SNKR/inc, a global youth culture brand and he is a member of the board of directors of Irish TV technology firm Axonista and is founder of content-focused venture capital firm Deviants Capital.
Dermot McCormack is the twin brother of Stephen McCormack, a successful serial entrepreneur who has founded and managed a number of innovative media and tech companies such as Itsmobile, Bitbuzz (acquired by Virgin Media) and Wildwave.
Stephen is currently founder and CEO of Straywave Media, a multi-platform TV and digital entertainment company whose brands include Irish Music Television, Style Nation and Independent Asian Music TV. Recent TV productions include Fade Street (RTE), Celebrity Salon (TV3) and Young Dumb and Living off Mum (Sony/TV3).
