LetsGetChecked to provide Covid testing for Irish Olympics team

Irish virtual care company LetsGetChecked is partnering with the Irish Olympic Team to offer Covid-19 testing in support of their efforts for the Tokyo 2020 games.

Dublin company LetsGetChecked has become an official partner of the Irish Olympic team.

Under the partnership LetsGetChecked will provide home collection Covid-19 testing to Team Ireland for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games.

“Having LetsGetChecked as an Olympic testing partner provides all members of Team Ireland peace of mind as we set out for Tokyo”

The partnership deal with Team Ireland comes within weeks of LetsGetChecked raising $150m in a Series D funding round that valued the company at more than $1bn.

Founded in Dublin in 2016 by CEO Peter Foley, the latest funding brings the total capital raised by LetsGetChecked to more than $260m to date.

“We are delighted to partner with Team Ireland to provide athletes and staff with Covid-19 tests before and after the Tokyo Games,” said Peter Foley, Founder and CEO of LetsGetChecked.

“The health and safety of all members of the Team is a top priority and we’re incredibly proud to serve as their Official Partner.”

Approximately 260 athletes and staff will be provided with pre-travel tests to ensure they are cleared to fly to Tokyo on 1 July, with plans for further testing to be administered upon their return to Ireland.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) testing is an essential element of pre-Games preparation for all national teams taking part in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Team Ireland’s tests will be processed in LetsGetChecked’s Dublin laboratory.

“LetsGetChecked will play a key role in ensuring that athletes have easy access to a reliable and fast testing service ahead of travel and when they return,” said Catherine Tiernan, commercial director for the Olympic Federation of Ireland.

Professional golfer and four times Major Champion Rory McIlroy, who is set to represent Ireland at the Olympics for the first time, said he is looking forward to competing in the Games:

“This will be an Olympics like no other, but every athlete just wants to focus on giving their best performance. Having LetsGetChecked as an Olympic testing partner provides all members of Team Ireland peace of mind as we set out for Tokyo.”

To date, LetsGetChecked has delivered more than 2m tests, covering a wide range of health conditions, and has worked with more than 300 corporate clients and partners around the world.

LetsGetChecked, which has offices in Dublin and New York, expanded exponentially during the pandemic, with year-on-year growth of 1,500pc.

Its end-to-end supply chain allowed LetsGetChecked to rapidly scale up its Covid-19 testing through 2020.

This included building a lab in Dublin to cater for the European market. The company announced last December that it was creating 160 new jobs in Dublin. Beyond the pandemic, LetsGetChecked has also seen a huge rise in the demand for quality virtual care services.
