Galway start-up represents Ireland at Creative Business Cup

Galway-based start-up Black Pug Studio Ltd. joined companies from more than 60 countries at the international event at the Bella Center in Copenhagen.

Galway-based start-up Black Pug Studio Ltd. was recently selected to represent Ireland at the Creative Business Cup held in Copenhagen where they battled it out with more than 60 other creative companies from around the world.

Since its foundation, the Creative Business Cup has since become a two-day global festival of creativity. The Creative Business Cup debuted in 2012 as part of a new initiative by the Creative Business Network aiming to help creative entrepreneurs to get their business off the ground, access essential funding and to take the lead on an international stage promoting their projects and creative vision.

Attending start-ups had the opportunity to connect, get inspired and grow their professional network by making direct contact with like-minded investors, entrepreneurs and upcoming start-ups from around the world, whilst competing for a €60,000 prize.

Founded in 2015 by Antonio Moreno and Julien Garrigues, Black Pug Studio is a multicultural creative technology agency operating all across Europe, specialising in design and web technology.

Speaking about his company’s achievement, Antonio Moreno, CEO of Black Pug said, “It was such an honour to represent Ireland for the first time at the ever growing and expanding Creative Business Cup. We were humbled to be hand-picked by our National Partner, WestBIC, and feel the trust they have in us and our projects. It’s just the beginning!

“We’ve come a long way and worked with so many different brands along the years, such as Nestlé, Ubisoft, Bank of Ireland and others, and it really highlighted our story and demonstrated that Ireland is a great place to conduct international business for start-ups.”

Looking to the future, Moreno has big plans for the company, saying: “Our plans are to solidify our current strategy and expand as soon as possible. We are an independent Studio with no original funding of help, we are completely self-made and we are proud of this after more than 4 years on the market. We now need to expand faster and reach a broader market.

“For that we are engaging in conversations with potential partners and investors in order to grow the team quickly in the next 6-12 months with new designers and developers, creative technologists, project managers, sales managers and business developers. We’ll be operating from France, Spain and the Netherlands as well as soon as we have the right people on board and that we feel confident that we can sit some talented people in those fantastic locations.”
