FLYEfit to create 120 jobs in €10m expansion

Irish gym chain FLYEfit is to invest €10m to open four new ‘super gyms’ that will result in 120 new jobs.

FLYEfit says that the investment is in response to the new era of hybrid working and unprecedented demand from customers who have taken up exercise during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The first of the four new 20,000 sq ft super gyms will open at Dublin’s Northside Shopping later this month as FLYEfit celebrates 10 years in business. The next three gyms to come will also open in Dublin and their location in the city centre, northside and southside of the city will be revealed over the coming months.

“Members are not restricted to one gym and can choose to fit their workout into their daily hybrid working routine”

Booming demand to join FLYEfit has also led the company to expand the size of its flagship gym in Blanchardstown from 20,000 sq ft to 30,000 sq ft just two years after it first opened. The new look gym is now the biggest in the FLYEfit chain and is also set to open in the coming weeks.

Fighting fit

FLYEfit has been a massive Irish success story since it opened its first gym in 2011. The Irish gym chain currently operates 16 gyms in city and suburban locations, attracting thousands of members of all ages. Its expansion to 20 gyms underlines its position as Ireland’s largest, most popular and fastest growing gym chain.

“The Covid-19 pandemic and the new model of hybrid working has changed everyone’s attitude to fitness. Thousands of people used the lockdowns to take up exercise and to get fit and the switch to hybrid working has helped workers to free up more time for exercise and to maintain a healthy lifestyle,” said a FLYEfit spokesperson.

“Our gyms are booming because our roaming membership allows members to work out at any one of our gyms. Members are not restricted to one gym and can choose to fit their workout into their daily hybrid working routine by visiting whichever gym is convenient to their place of work, whether they’re working from home or the office,” he added.

“Our goal from day one has always been to make gym membership accessible to everyone and to provide the best equipment and classes at an affordable price. You can join any FLYEfit gym for €29 per month or all of our gyms for €32 per month and our gyms can be found throughout the city and suburbs,” he continued.

“FLYEfit’s expansion strategy is focused on strengthening our presence in cities and expanding into suburban areas. We have aligned that with industry trends such as the boom in running and cycling and invested in immersive equipment to help members to take their newfound hobbies and interest in fitness to the next level,” said the FLYEfit spokesperson.

Hammer time

FLYEfit is enhancing the member experience at its new gyms with the introduction of MYRIDE Spin Studios and Official Hammer Strength Training Centres. The MYRIDE bikes provide an immersive on-screen experience with a choice of more than 500 routes from around the world, from the Italian Alps to road trails in California.

The Official Hammer Strength Training Centres have been equipped with over 20 Hammer Strength plate loaded machines. This equipment is renowned worldwide and its arrival at FLYEfit allows members to work out on equipment that is normally only available to the world’s top elite athletes.

“We are delighted that more people than ever are prioritising their health and fitness. We are responding with the opening of four new gyms which will create 120 new jobs across all operations including roles for gym managers and personal trainers. Our personal trainers bring a unique energy to the gym floor and we have designed over 60 free classes and 150 online classes to make exercising fun and to keep people moving,” the FLYEfit spokesperson added.

FLYEfit has also announced that it is celebrating its 10th birthday by removing its €25 joining fee for 10 days from October 15th – 25th inclusive. Anyone joining at this time can simply choose to pay €29 per month or €259 annually to access any one gym, or €32 per month and €299 to access all FLYEfit gyms.
