European e-commerce deal for John Beckett’s ChannelSight

E-commerce entrepreneur’s mega deal with European electronics giant Euronics covers 34 countries.

John Beckett’s Dublin-headquartered e-commerce firm ChannelSight has struck a major deal with European electronics retailer Euronics.

Euronics is one of Europe’s largest consumer electronics retailers and has a total turnover of €19.1bn.

The three-year deal will see ChannelSight place “where to buy” buttons for brands in 34 countries worldwide.

Digital commerce catalyst

Effectively ChannelSight is the catalyst enabling Euronics to apply a consumer-centric approach to its digital collaboration with electronics brand.

The consumer-centric approach removes the discussion around direct to consumer, pure players and click and mortar and further empowers consumers to choose the channel they trust and feel most comfortable with.

“The ChannelSight solution helps us ensure the consumer can have the expected retail experience they desire from every brand at Euronics, be it online or in our physical stores,” explained Hans Carpels, president of Euronics GEIE.

“A consumers’ search on the brand partner websites will display if the selected product is available at our retail shop nearby. We have to think consumer-first and make it easy for them to find and buy products regardless of online or offline.”

E-commerce pioneer

One of Ireland’s original e-commerce pioneers, John Beckett, CEO of ChannelSight, first flew to prominence when as a teenager in 1999 he built the very first Ryanair website along with a school pal for £20,000.

Since then he has built up a global e-commerce business called ChannelSight which is key to the e-commerce strategy of for global brands such as Bosch, Philips, Coca Cola and Sony.

In the past year Beckett spearheaded a new social enterprise called Forestry Partners which has a 12-month roadmap to get to 250 Irish partners with the goal of creating at least 25,000 tons of CO2 equivalent offsets and achieving 200 acres of planted or committed trees.
