Bank of Ireland: Priority banking hour for over 65s and carers

Bank of Ireland has confirmed that all of its branches will prioritise older customers and carers at the beginning of the day to help them avoid busier and more crowded periods during the Covid-19/Coronavirus outbreak.

The bank said that from today (19 March) it is offering a priority service for over 65s and carers in branches between 10am and 11am, Monday to Friday, until further notice.

Alternatively, over 65s and carers who are unable to come into a branch can call 1800 946 146 (9.30am -4.30pm Mon-Fri).

Bank of Ireland branches remain open and have implemented extensive Covid-19 measures to protect customers and staff.

Branch safety measures during Covid-19

Measures include:

  • Safe queuing systems are in place (distancing, queuing ropes, floor markers) and staff are supporting customers with these guidelines
  • The bank limit the number of customers entering a branch at any one time to ensure compliance with HSE recommendations
  • The appropriate hygiene and cleaning procedures are deployed across all branches and offices

Earlier this week, Bank of Ireland CEO Francesca McDonagh affirmed the bank’s support for businesses and personal customers throughout the crisis.

Earlier this week ThinkBusiness reported that the bank had waived contactless fees for the duration of the public health emergency.

The bank has also committed to buying back foreign exchange currency at the rate it was sold  for customers impacted by travel disruption to ensure they do not suffer financial loss.
